FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH GCSE FRENCH KS5 FRENCH ALEVEL FRENCH FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES CARDS ACTIVITIES LES PAYS FRANCOPHONES All files are non-editable in a zipped format. Please read the Terms of Use. French-speaking countries, capital cities and flags game cards provide great cross-curricular learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year. Students can develop their language skills, as well as their knowledge of both the French-speaking and wider world, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The set features 41 countries / territories where French is an official language, with each picture card showing the continent and national flag, and the corresponding text card detailing continent, country and capital city. There is a set of detachable continent, country and capital city labels. Labelling is a really successful and popular learning activity. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones. I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. There is a country, capital city and flag reference list of all countries and capital cities, including the continent on which each is located. Students find it useful to read this through before playing I generally allow them only 60 seconds on a timer to really focus their reading and increase the sense of competition if we are playing competitive team games. I’ve described a range of popular games and activities in the product pack. The list can also be used as a year-round reference resource, which students can file in their workbooks or learning files. Laminate the cards and reference sheets if you can - it’s really worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. Play regularly for maximum learning potential. Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON VOYAGE !

As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. There are several games and activities that my students enjoy, and I’ve described them for you to try with yours. They may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These activities really do help to create a lively language learning environment for young learners of French, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led***information about France*** lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of the francophone world - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home / host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: 20 facts cards - there are four facts in each of the following topic groups:arts & culture; country; famous people; history and language. There are blank templates for children to research and create their own facts cards for each other, and providing them with opportunity to apply learning and knowledge creatively. Over the school year, children should regularly add to their facts cards, which in time creates a fabulous bank of facts about France. Facts recording sheet challenge level 1 - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes. Facts recording sheet challenge level 2 - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned. 24 question / comprehension cards — the questions have a differentiated range of challenge, and are based on the knowledge developed through the whole-group presentation and discussion, and the facts cards. There are some independent research questions, which I use as a springboard for further discussion based on children’s own developing interests about France. There are blank templates here too - creating questions is a great way to think about and apply knowledge and learning. question / comprehension cards recording sheet whole-group facts presentation & discussion MERCI BEACOUP, BON APPRENTISSAGE ET BON VOYAGE !

PRIMARY FRENCH ANIMALS BINGO

PRIMARY FRENCH ANIMALS BINGO 120 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS WITH SILENT BINGO CALLING - IDEAL FOR HIGH SCHOOL BEGINNER FRENCH TOO! I created these differentiated Primary French animals bingo games, building in a range of challenges, to help my students engage happily with their French. They work just as well with older learners too! They really enjoy playing games, and these bingo games are perfect for developing listening, speaking, reading and writing/spelling skills. They’re also really useful for a focus on definite article and gender. The game isn’t actually about learning all the animals - 20 is too many in ‘one go’ - select your core vocab, with the additional animals useful for quick recall practice. There are 20 animals: the mouse the horse the dog the cat the crocodile the bird the fish the frog the pig the cow the tortoise/turtle the tiger the elephant the giraffe the lion the rabbit the monkey the chicken the spider the zebra There are 21 non-editable files: 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages), in both colour and B&W. There are also 40 French word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). For additional challenge there are 40 English word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - this is a great way of consolidating vocab too. My students like to create their own word or picture grids for each other, so I’ve also included 4 12-square grid templates. I developed SILENT BINGO to provide my students with an alternative way of practising their vocab and general language skills - select a grid type for students - picture-only, French word or English word. Using the SILENT BINGO files, show each slide at varying speeds. Students cross off the corresponding word or picture. There are 5 different games of each type: picture-only, French words, English words. SPANISH-SPEAKING & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES POSTERS

(2)
BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING POSTERS FLASHCARDS 62 posters / flashcards featuring 21 Spanish-speaking countries and 10 Portuguese-speaking countries with the countries, capital cities and flags, in Spanish. I've found having the posters in my classroom provides an instant introduction to the scope of the Spanish-speaking world, and seeing the countries where Portuguese, rather than Spanish, is spoken, prevents them confusing the two from the very beginning of their learning - my students do often tend to get them a little mixed up! The posters are great for reading, speaking and pronunciation prompts too. I often ask quick questions such as ¿Cuál es la capital de...?, ¿Sí o no? Madrid es la capital de Paraguay? or ¿Se habla español o portugués en Brasil? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the posters as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill, particularly for beginner language learners, so getting the most from classroom decor to encourage students to speak is really important. This works particularly with my beginner Spanish classes, as it's a great way of encouraging them to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their Spanish program. I've often found that there can be several (or more!) countries that students don't actually know, or have never heard of, and the posters are really useful for helping them develop their general understanding and knowledge of the wider world. There are two backgrounds to choose from: Spanish / Portuguese flag or plain. Laminate them if you can, as they hang really well, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in great condition for years. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish-speaking countries resources, with a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning resources, with Spanish dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies. The questions range in complexity and challenge in terms of language and calculation, though they are designed for advanced beginner Italian language learners, who will generally be more advanced in their maths skills. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These Primary Spanish animals display posters/flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish, both primary and secondary. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. They really give the classroom a great Spanish ambiance too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. The posters work just as well as flashcards, which are great for introducing and practicing language in general (students don’t have to learn them all!), and for playing games to engage students with Spanish. There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo. The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an ow : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel a turtle / tortoise : a wolf There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, with two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or animal footprint, so 40 posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in excellent condition for years. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

ALEVEL GCSE GERMAN VERBS CONJUGATION PRESENT PERFECT IMPERFECT TENSES SIXTEEN WORKBOOKS & ANSWER KEYS: REGULAR VERBS : SEPARABLE VERBS : REFLEXIVE VERBS : IRREGULAR & MIXED VERBS : HIGH-FREQUENCY VERBS : VERBS TAKING SEIN IN THE PERFECT TENSE : 2,400 CONJUGATION QUESTIONS My students love these for quick conjugation recall practice, and they're the perfect activity for practice and revision. This is a bundle of sixteen 'quick conjugation' workbooks, which provide students with lots of opportunities to practice how to conjugation a range of high-frequency verbs in German with a focus on three tenses: present, perfect and imperfect. One of the workbooks focuses on verbs taking sein in the perfect tense. There are 150 conjugations in each workbook, with an individual focus on particular verbs groups. That's 2,400 quick conjugation questions in total. There is a complete answer key for each individual workbook too - my students really like to have the answer keys, as they find it enables them to work more independently, and they benefit from both self and peer assessment. I find answer keys really essential, as they provide students with additional opportunity to engage with language. I've been using the workbooks for a long time, and found they work best when I give my students regular and frequent chances to revisit the workbooks, including noting their thoughts on the Notes and Next Steps template. That really does help them to focus on their progress. We also use the template to guide and inform whole-group discussions about German conjugation in particular and German grammar in general. Even my advanced students get the chance to go 'back to the beginning' and work quickly through the conjugations, just to be sure that they have really grasped the concept. I use the workbooks as classwork, as homework, as 'free choice' resources, holiday refresher and revision work, and also as focused activities for sub lessons. They really do work well in a broad range of contexts. The verbs groups are: - regular verbs - irregular and mixed verbs - regular and irregular separable verbs - regular and irregular reflexive verbs - regular and irregular high-frequency verbs - verbs taking sein in the perfect tense The tenses are: - present tense (Präsens) - perfect tense (Perfekt) - imperfect tense (Präteritum) The structure of each quick conjugation workbook is: 10-page work book with two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge One: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge Two: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation challenge Three: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. * 6-page answer key book which students find really useful, and I actually consider essential for this type of workbook - either to self- or peer-assess - it's also a great time saver for teachers, as well as a way of encouraging students to really assume more responsibility for, and independence in, their learning. * Notes and Next Steps page - we use this to map progress, and to note ideas for improvement. We also use it as to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity. It's also a great place to note any additional verbs that students learn, and this helps to build up a really strong verb vocab bank. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, so the focus on the auxiliary sein with this workbook helps to embed this concept, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully. PRIMARY FRENCH NUMBERS KS2 FRENCH NUMBERS KS3 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user licence only. Please read the Terms of Use. French Numbers 0-31 Challenge Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of French numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner French students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in French. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on French Numbers 0-31, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in French, but also to enjoy working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in French, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I've used visual prompts such as math symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don't allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on French math language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of math is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper; laminate if possible 2-page answer recording sheet 2-page answer key MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !
